The Giant's Stone at Skatteby Field
Jämtland · Sweden · Natural site
A giant straddling two shores meant to topple Lännäs church tower – but threw too high, and the boulder landed in the field.
In a field at Skatteby in Bodsjö lay a stone as large as a house, said to have been hurled by a giant against the church. With one foot on the island of Tockneön and the other at Stenvret on the far shore, he aimed for the steeple, for giants loathed the churches. But the throw went too high, the stone sailed over the roof and fell into the field, where it was left to lie.
