At Hällestad it is told of a farmer called Froste of Harketorp, said to be in league with the devil, for his horses were fatter and finer than anyone's though he only spat at them in the manger. At Hällesta church he was to join a royal coach-relay but lingered at the tavern. However the drivers struck them, Froste's horses stood like stones until he came himself, and when a driver whipped them, sparks shot from beneath the wheels until Froste took the reins and all became orderly again.
