The household read loose a whole host of evil angels – but the down and sand ropes kept them busy till the old man came.

At Onstad in Aurdal the old man owned the true book, and once the household read loose a whole host of evil angels they couldn't bind. The old man sensed it and turned for home. When the freed ones made an uproar, he slit open a down quilt and shook out the feathers for them to gather. Then he sent them to Onstadsanden to twist rope from sand – and the bits of sand rope lie there to this day.
