Out on the fjord the priest sensed the devil was loose – and rowed home through spray to bind him.
The priest Peder Bjørnson of Nesset, father of Bjørnstjerne and called Stor-Pe, owned the black book. One Sunday he had left it at home, and the maid read the devil free and set him to bail sea into sea. As he went up the fjord the priest sensed that not all was right at home, had himself rowed back through the spray, and managed to bind the devil.
