Old Langedalen of Øystre Slidre was said to own the black book. When someone at home read many evil spirits loose, he sensed it up in the mountains and rushed back. He emptied his powder horn into the river Vindeåa and bade the spirits gather every grain, then set them to twist ropes of sand until he had bound them again.
