A priest in Saudherad owned the black book and sent his servant boy to fetch it from Nes church, sternly warning him not to read. Weary by the road, the boy could not resist, read the chapter of loosing, and was swarmed by little devils. The priest, sensing it, rode to meet him and set the devils to twist ropes of sand until he bound them.
