Across Lister and Mandal the wise Master Søren, the Bjelland priest, was widely told of, said to have learned black arts at the school in Wittenberg. There one student was drawn by lot for the Evil One, and the lot fell on him. When the Devil came on a sunny day, Søren pointed behind and said, take the one who follows. The Devil took his shadow, and Søren had none thereafter.
