LilleJæger and the Clawed Player (Kloppene, Arendal)
Aust-Agder · Norway · Sägenplats · Scare 3/5
At Kloppene a stranger won everything and hooked his claws into the table-stool so no one could remove him — until LilleJæger of Moland conjured him out through the leaded window.
At Kloppene near Arendal some men sat playing cards when a stranger came in and won so much it became utter confusion. When one bent for a fallen card he saw the man had claws and had fixed himself to the table-stool, and however many tried, they could not get him out. Then LilleJæger of Moland was fetched; "now comes LilleJæger, now I must flee," said the Evil One, and the holy man pushed a needle through the lead of the pane and conjured him out through the hole so it whined and shrieked.
