On a large farm out in Ådal there lived long ago a man so given to playing cards that he often won everything people owned. Once, in the middle of the play, a strange man came in and became aware of a great black dog lying under the card table. Since no one in the house kept a dog, it was easy to understand what sort of dog it was that lay there.
