Godless card players in Sildene refused a man the loan of their cards. One evening a black dog came sparking from under the table and passed straight through the solid wall.
Out in Sildene some men sat almost constantly playing cards, godless and cursing so it was dreadful to hear. A man with a net-shed nearby asked to borrow the deck but was refused. One evening, in the midst of the cursing, a great black dog came slinking out from under the table, sparking and blazing, ran past a man stirring porridge so he flung down the stirring-stick, and then passed straight through the solid wall; after that the card-playing ended and they gave the deck away.
