The dean met the Devil on Ryr Forest and forced him to bear the cart — and learned the fiend had been helping the dean's wife sew bonnets at home.

In Rommele a tale was told of Dean Kreitlow, who on his way home from preaching met the Devil on Ryr Forest. The Devil removed both wheels on one side of the cart, but the dean forced him instead to carry it and drove at furious speed. Asked what he had been up to, the Devil answered that he had been helping the dean's wife sew tall bonnets at home. The dean forced the Evil One inside and drove him out through a hole in the leaded window, and the wife finally had to throw her bonnets onto the fire.
