The Fiend would have his soul if a boot were filled with money – but the cobbler had cut out the bottom, and the Fiend hauled until he tired.

At Otterstad it was told of a cobbler who had promised the Fiend his soul in return for a boot full of money. But the cobbler had cut the bottom out of the boot, so however much the Fiend carried it stayed empty. In the end the Fiend wearied and got neither the money nor the cobbler.
