From Strömfors in Nyland comes the tale of the pious Matti, who one Sunday saw the Devil sitting in church writing down every sleeper on a great hide. When the hide ran short the Devil stretched it with his teeth until he bent into a comic shape. Matti burst out laughing - and drowned on his way home.
