Drained of every answer, the fiend was driven down through a hole bored in the floor.

As at Lye, so it is said to have gone at Strand: during the sermon the priest sensed unrest at home, where his wife had read the Evil One loose. She kept him busy carrying empty grain poles and bailing out a tarn. When the priest came home he conjured until the fiend had no answer left, bored a hole in the floor, and forced him down through it.
