An investigation was carried out in June 2008, and the account of it is why this entry is kept: one of the investigators was sitting by a tree at the edge of the wooded area, in the darkest part of the park, when something happened.

Black eyed figures are a distinctly modern report. They appear in accounts from the 1990s onward, spread rapidly through the internet, and have almost no presence in older folklore anywhere. Whatever they are, they arrived recently.

The park is public and is closed after dark.
