On the road up to the Wopsy Lookout outside Altoona, Pennsylvania, a bride in white is still said to walk the curve called the Devil's Elbow.

Above Altoona, Pennsylvania, the road climbing to the Wopsononock lookout was once the way to a hotel that drew weekenders out of the city. The hotel and its famous overlook burned early in the twentieth century and were never rebuilt. The road, now Juniata Gap Road, remains, and so does the curve locals call the Devil's Elbow, which has seen a long list of accidents.

The legend belongs to a couple who married early in that century and were driving up to the hotel for their honeymoon. They never arrived. The bride is the one who stayed.
