The father set out to see the world's end - and came home with an unintended pledge.

In Vörå they tell of a man who set out to find the end of the world and lost his way, whereupon a dark figure offered him passage home in return for one of his sons. When the day of reckoning came the priest set the boy at the church altar and drew a ring around him, ordering him to give his hand to no one. The evil one came in the shape of his parents and of the priest but could not take him.
