In Strömfors the dark one came to a girl washing potatoes and demanded her hand. She pledged herself only if he could carry water in a sieve, but however fast he ran from the well, the sieve ran dry. Then the girl took the sieve herself, sprinkled a little flour on the bottom so the water held, and the shamed devil left her in peace.
