Curzon Hall — Dhaka Division · Bangladesh · House

In the century-old university corridors, the voices of dead students are said to echo at night.

Curzon Hall, built in 1904, is today the science hub of Dhaka University – a campus steeped in Bangladesh's bloody history of protest, from the 1952 Language Movement to the 1971 Liberation War. Students say those who died in the unrest still linger: voices are heard from empty lecture halls at night, and shadowy figures flit along the long brick corridors. Night guards tell of slamming doors and footsteps trailing anyone who walks the building alone after dark.
