Český Krumlov Castle

Two legends meet at Krumlov Castle: the silent walks of the White Lady, and the emperor's son who murdered the barber's daughter Markéta.
The Renaissance castle of Český Krumlov, one of Central Europe's largest castle complexes, carries a double ghost story. The White Lady, Perchta of Rožmberk, is said to appear in its chambers – she was born here and is regarded as both guardian spirit and omen of misfortune. The castle also holds the memory of Don Julius d'Austria, the insane illegitimate son of Emperor Rudolf II, who in 1608 brutally murdered and mutilated the barber's daughter Markéta Pichlerová in his rooms. It is said that neither Markéta nor her deranged killer ever found peace, and that hauntings linger around the old bathhouse on Latrán street where she grew up.
