Dragør Beach Hotel

Köpenhamn · Danmark · Värdshus · Skrekk 3/5

In the herring market's old inn from the 1500s there is a room at the end of the corridor – guests step inside and are seized by dread.

Dragør Strandhotel by the harbour counts among Denmark's oldest inns: the Gamle Kro stood here as early as the 1500s, watering thirsty merchants in the days of the great herring markets, and from the mid-1600s Svend Hansen Gynge ran a privileged tavern with the right to brew beer and distil spirits. After more than four centuries of sailors, smugglers and travellers, the house has gathered its share of stories – and one of them refuses to die. The most haunted room is said to lie at the far end of the first-floor corridor, where visitors have described being seized by an intense, inexplicable dread, as if someone unseen already lived there. Who lingers on in the old inn nobody knows, but in Dragør's local lore the room at the end of the corridor has earned an eerie reputation all of its own.
