From the mists of Lake Toblino, the prince-bishop's drowned mistress Claudia Particella is said to rise again at night.

Castel Toblino rises on a promontory in the lake of the same name and ranks among Trentino's most romantic – and most legend-shrouded – castles. Here the prince-bishop Carlo Emanuele Madruzzo kept his mistress Claudia Particella, and according to legend her boat capsized one night on the lake, drowning her in the icy water – widely interpreted as divine punishment. Other tales have two lovers who perished in the lake on a full-moon night still wandering its shores. The site is also said to rest on an ancient temple dedicated to the goddesses of fate, lending the castle its mythical aura.
