A driverless yellow Volkswagen Beetle is said to stalk lone night drivers on Malaysia's most infamous highway – overtake it, and it reappears ahead of you.

The highway between Kuala Lumpur and Karak winds through the mountains and has gathered a grim reputation of accidents and ghost stories since the 1970s. Most famous is the yellow Volkswagen Beetle: an old car that pulls in front of lone drivers at night, tempting them to overtake – only to impossibly reappear ahead of them, again and again, with an empty driver's seat. According to legend, the car is possessed by an angry husband still searching for his runaway wife. The story is so beloved that it inspired the horror film Volkswagen Kuning, and many Malaysians still avoid the road late at night.
