Satan crept in as a woollen thread through the keyhole and refused to leave — until he exposed the priest's one youthful sin.

At Ärtemark it is told of a priest writing the next day's sermon one evening when Satan slipped in through the keyhole in the shape of a woollen thread. The priest commanded him in God's name to depart, but the fiend was stubborn. When the priest claimed he had never done evil, the devil reminded him that in his student days he had once stolen a ball of wool. Only after the farmhand was fetched did they manage to drive the unwelcome guest out.
