The servant boy read the devil loose – but leaves, a wind and rope of sand held him till the priest came.

While the priest in Lindesnes preached, the servant boy got hold of the black book and read the devil free. The priest sensed it and went home. He set him first to pick the leaves from the birch on Bersaghauen, then to catch a loosed wind, and finally to twist a rope from sand on Rosfjordsanden – a task he never finished, for to this day he is said to sit there still.
