The Man Who Sold His Soul (Eidskog)
Hedmark · Norge · Sägenplats · Skrekk 3/5
At the card table a man denied the soul existed. Then a stranger offered money for it — and reminded him that when you buy the horse, the halter follows.
Some men sat playing cards and fell to talking of life after death; one of them held there was neither soul nor any life beyond this one. Then a strange man stepped in, joined the game and lost almost throughout, but turned the talk back to eternity and asked the man whether he would sell his soul. The man said yes and pocketed a great sum — but the stranger, who was the Evil One, reminded him that when you buy the horse the halter follows, and took the man away; no one saw him again.
