Priest Zetlitz and the Black Book, Bø
Telemark · Norge · Sägenplats · Skrekk 3/5
He conjured Old Erik to hold a broken carriage wheel together – and whipped on until the sand flew.
Zetlitz, priest in Kvitseid, is said to have owned the black book. On his way to a sick-call in Seljord his horse halted at a place where someone had hanged himself, and through the bridle rings the driver glimpsed a shadowy figure. On another occasion the carriage wheel broke, and the priest conjured Old Erik to wrap himself around the spokes and hold it together while he drove so the sand flew. The Evil One had to strain hard all the way home, and only when the wheel held was he set free.
