The yellow beacon tower in East Coast Park was a popular meeting spot for young couples when, in May 1990, 21-year-old Kelly Tan and her boyfriend were ambushed there by two knife-wielding men. Tan was stabbed in the neck and died; her boyfriend survived – and the attackers have never been identified. Ever since, a female figure in white is said to appear at the tower, and joggers passing late at night tell of wails from the staircase and of stains resembling fresh blood on the railing. The tower still stands as one of Singapore's eeriest reminders of an unsolved crime.
