The Adams family graves

Georgia · USA · Cemetery

A small family plot on a dirt road near the Baker County line, with four unknown Civil War soldiers buried in it. Nobody knows which side they were on.

The burial ground near Albany, Georgia sits on a dirt road close to the Baker County line, and was listed for years simply as the Adams family graves.

It is a small family plot, and alongside the family are four graves of unknown Civil War soldiers.

Nobody knows whether they were Confederate or Union.

That is the whole of what makes this site worth recording, and it is a great deal. Four men were buried by strangers on a farm in south Georgia, without names and without anyone being certain which army they had been fighting for. Somebody dug the graves anyway.

A correction and further submissions were filed in December.

The plot is small, rural, and on or beside private land.
