Room 106 of the flood-ravaged giant hotel on Mar Chiquita is called the most haunted spot in South America.

In the 1940s the German couple Pahlke built a lavish hotel on the salt lake Mar Chiquita, shadowed by rumours that it was meant as a refuge for Nazis. When the lake flooded in 1977, half of Miramar drowned and the hotel became a ruined shell. Most notorious is room 106, where a young chambermaid is said to have died in unclear circumstances and where visitors report voices, footsteps and figures. The American show Ghost Hunters devoted an entire episode to the place, and guided ghost tours still run today.
