Ola read the devil loose as a raging storm – until the farmer set him to gather peas, one by one.

A farmer in Eidskog owned the black book, and one day the stable hand Ola came upon it and read the devil free. He came not in human shape but as a terrible storm around the boy. The farmer heard the uproar and set the devil to scatter half a barrel of peas across the field and then gather them one by one. Before he could finish, he was bound again.
