On the corner of Hackhofergasse and Greinergasse in Nussdorf stands the old inn 'Zu den drei Adlern' — the former Neudeggerhof, built in 1577 and renovated in 1684. The estate belonged for a time to the Dominicans, and folk belief held that it had originally been a convent. No document says so, but the legend is very firm on one point: at night nuns are seen riding out of the gateway on white horses, off across the fields. Others stay behind in the courtyard, busily going about their old domestic work. They move soundlessly through yard and passages, as if no time had passed since the house was theirs. Nussdorf is one of Vienna's oldest surviving wine villages, where the Danube pushes between the Kahlenberg and the Bisamberg.
