La Sabana Railway Station
Bogotá · Colombia · Urban site
In Bogotá's old central station, children's footsteps are heard running through the empty halls at night.
The monumental railway station of 1917 was once the gateway to Colombia's capital, with vast stone halls and echoing platforms. Since rail traffic faded, the night watchmen have had the station to themselves – almost. They tell of child spirits running and playing in the halls long after closing, and of a woman's drawn-out lament said to come from a tortured soul. Several employees refuse to walk the building alone after dark.
