The Lady's Spring on Mount Parnitha (Pigi tis Kyras)
Attika · Grekland · Natural site
As the sun drops at the Lady's Spring, walkers meet a girl in a white dress with a blue ribbon at her waist — and the woman always beside her.
High on Mount Parnitha, where the water surfaces at Kyras Spring, walkers have told the same story for generations. Late on a winter afternoon, just as the sun slips behind the ridge, a small girl appears in an all-white dress with a pale blue ribbon tied at the waist — clothes belonging to another century. Beside her walks a woman said to be her mother. They do not greet anyone; they simply pass, and whoever turns to look sees an empty path. The spring also carries older accounts of people who vanished and reappeared unable to account for the time between, and of lights moving above the treetops. The place is easy to reach and easy to linger on when the fog comes down.
