The Ottoman commander blindfolded his horse and spurred it over the edge. The crag has been called the Turk's Leap ever since. Neither horse nor rider came up again.

The rocky ridge above Budaörs carries a name that tells the whole story: Törökugrató, the Turk's Leap. The legend ties it to 1686, the year Buda was retaken. An Ottoman relief force heading for the fortress was cut down by Hungarian horsemen, and the commander fled up the slope until his horse stopped dead at the precipice. Behind him were his pursuers, before him the drop. Better death than capture and torture, he is said to have declared, before tying a cloth over his horse's eyes, spurring it on, and plunging with it into the abyss. The crag is a viewpoint today, looking out over the whole Budaörs basin, but the old name keeps the story alive on every signpost. Hikers who reach the crest against the light say the drop looks shorter than it is, and that is exactly what makes the legend believable.
