Vrindavan Society is a large and otherwise perfectly ordinary housing estate in Thane outside Mumbai – with one notorious exception: building 66B. A man is said to have taken his own life in his flat there, and his spirit reportedly never left. Best known is the tale of the night watchman who was slapped so hard by an invisible hand that he nearly fell off his chair. Residents also describe footsteps trailing them in the dark and an uneasy feeling around 66B, which many avoid late at night. Sceptical neighbours dismiss it all, but the rumours have made the estate one of India's most talked-about haunted addresses.
