The palace at Via dei Tribunali 362 has an oval courtyard and a double staircase that seems to have no end. The legend concerns Bianca, an orphan of noble birth whom Duke Spinelli took into his household. The duchess Lorenza could not bear the way her husband looked at the girl, and by the telling had her walled up alive inside one of the walls. Before the opening was closed Bianca is said to have spoken her curse in Neapolitan: wall me up if you will, but in happiness or in greatness you shall see me still. Since then she appears to the family three days before anything of consequence happens. Dressed in white she means joy; dressed in black, someone in the house has little time left. Tenants today describe footsteps on the stairs when nobody is on them.
