Hotel Posada del Sol

Ciudad de México · Mexiko · Hotel

The luxury hotel that never opened: its builder hanged himself in the chapel, and in room 103 an altar honours a dead girl.

In 1945 engineer Fernando Saldaña Galván began building an extravagant luxury hotel in Colonia Doctores, but the project ruined him and he is said to have hanged himself in the hotel's own chapel. The building has stood abandoned ever since, and the legends have multiplied: a girl was allegedly found dead in room 103 in the 1960s, where an altar with toys, sweets and her portrait is still maintained by unknown hands. Neighbours speak of screams and wailing at night, and rumours tell of secret rooms and rituals in the basement. The decaying complex ranks among the capital's most haunted buildings.
