On a frosty moonlit night a stranger offered a lift – but the claws around the sleigh runners gave it away.

One moonlit evening a brash man from Nes was offered a ride by a stranger with a black horse and racing sleigh. Soon he noticed claws fixed around the runners and understood who the driver was. The devil meant to take him to Mortningsodden, but the man managed to throw himself off – and that very night deadly violence struck at the very place he was bound for.
