The legend tells how the priest Peter Dass was ordered to preach in Copenhagen the very next morning and bound the devil to fly him there across the sea. The payment was to be the souls of all who slept through the sermon. When his carrier swooped low to frighten him into prayer, the priest only called for higher and faster flight, and once there he preached so powerfully that no one fell asleep.
