A son-in-law cut the heart from a hanged man for his pregnant mother-in-law – but in the night the dead man came and tore the heart from her.

At Garde it was told of a man whose pregnant mother-in-law craved fresh meat. On his way home from town he cut the heart from a man hanging dead on the gallows and gave it to her, but forbade her to open the door at night. The old woman opened it anyway to the dead man, who was the Evil One, and after forcing her to ask where his body parts were, he tore the heart from her and left her dead.
