Mentz Rynning had hidden the black book well in his bedroom, but once when the maid was cleaning there she found it and began leafing and reading. At once the room teemed with small devils, so many the priest couldn't get them out all at once. He had to bring in a fishing net and let every imp untie its knots, and before they finished he had bound them.
