Sundbyholm Castle
Södermanland, Eskilstuna · Sweden · Castle
Staff call it Södermanland’s most haunted castle — doors open by themselves and a black-clad figure has been seen in the wine cellar.
Sundbyholm Castle by Lake Mälaren outside Eskilstuna is sometimes called the most haunted castle in Södermanland. Staff and guests have told of doors that open and close on their own, keys rattling in empty halls and handles pressed down by unseen hands. After a dinner, a tall, black-clad hooded figure is said to have appeared in the wine cellar. A medium reportedly reassured the castle that only kind ghosts dwell here. Today Sundbyholm is a hotel and conference venue on the lakeshore.
