The Van Born warehouse
Michigan · United States · Haunted site
Stinson Aviation built aircraft here in the 1930s. The workers scratched their initials into the floor and called themselves the Left Wing Gang.
The warehouse complex off Van Born Road near Wayne Road at Romulus, Michigan began as Stinson Aviation, which built aircraft here in the 1930s.
The men who worked the floor called themselves the Left Wing Gang and left their initials in it. Those initials are still there. The detail that unsettles people working in the building today is that some of them match the initials of current employees exactly.
Local account holds that a wing came off one of the aircraft and killed several of the workers.
The site was expanded afterwards and occupied for years by Detroit Diesel, and a man is said to have taken his own life during that period.
Neither event has been confirmed from any record we have been able to check, and both are recorded here as what is told inside the building.
What is certain is the floor. Ninety years ago a crew of men marked it with their initials because they expected to keep working there, and the marks have outlasted the company, the aircraft and the men.
