The best known tells of the young nun Vitinia, whose beauty could not be hidden beneath her veil and who fell in love with a Roman horseman. When the monastery condemned her and her newborn child, a storm swept over the mountains – lightning struck, the monastery collapsed and everyone was turned to stone.
