In Bukken in Ullensvang the devil brazenly sat down at the card table, but the club suit vanished, since he can neither look at nor handle it. Attempts to drive him from the farm failed until the priest Grøgård forced him out through a needle hole in the leaden window frame. He returned, however, until a painter depicted him on a door – then he disappeared for good. A man from Ulvik said the image was the ugliest thing he had ever seen.
