Rocafort Metro Station
Barcelona · Spain · Tunnel
Night staff at Barcelona's most infamous metro station refuse to sit alone at the monitors – a woman in white walks the platform and dissolves into the tunnel dark.
Rocafort on Line 1 opened in 1926, and the construction itself took lives: eleven workers died when the tunnel collapsed. In the 1960s the station earned its cursed reputation when four people took their lives there within a single month. Since then, station masters waiting alone for the night's last train have told of footsteps on an empty platform, voices that seem to seep from the walls, and sudden pockets of icy air by the tunnel mouth. Most talked-about is the woman in white seen walking along the track before dissolving into thin air. Metro employees have admitted to the local press that nobody wants the Rocafort night shift. The legend is so entrenched it became the 2024 horror film 'Estación Rocafort'.
