György Gschwindt sought the elixir of eternal life in his laboratory. The evening he was to reveal the recipe, he was found dead. Nobody ever saw the recipe.

Behind the façade of Puskin utca 19 lay one of Budapest's stranger homes. The wealthy György Gschwindt devoted his years to occultism and alchemy, working in his private laboratory toward a single goal: to produce the elixir of eternal life. According to the story told in the city ever since, he succeeded. He invited his closest friends to reveal what he had found — and when they arrived he was dead, without anyone learning what the mixture contained. The recipe vanished with him. The house has been named among the capital's occult addresses ever since, and neighbours have spoken of a light burning all night in a room where nobody lives. What remained in the laboratory after his death was never accounted for, and the house has changed hands many times since.
