In the decaying manor above the Douro, ghost hunters recorded a metallic voice shrieking: 'Get out of here!'

The Palacete Marques Gomes in Vila Nova de Gaia was built by the wealthy merchant Manuel Marques Gomes, who died in 1932 leaving thirteen children locked in a bitter inheritance feud. While the heirs quarrelled, the grand villa overlooking the Douro river crumbled into ruin. Paranormal investigators claim to have captured an angry voice on tape – 'Saiam daqui, vão-se embora!', get out of here – and many believe it is the old patriarch himself guarding his house. The grounds are now part of a redevelopment project, but the story of the voice endures.
