To a dance in Lappfjärd the devil himself is said to have come. He bade the fiddler play a certain waltz and danced with the vainest girl in the district. The fiddler could not stop, and the girl's feet left bloody tracks across the floor in the furious whirl. When at last someone cut the strings the girl sank down dead, while the enraged devil turned a flip and hung head-downward against the ceiling before all fled.
